Golden Hour
Golden Hour
There is a brief moment each evening when the world seems to glow from within.
The sun dips below the horizon, the mountains soften into layers of shadow and light, and every tree, stone, and riverbank is painted in warm gold. That fleeting moment inspired Golden Hour.
This handcrafted layered landscape captures the beauty of sunset in the Appalachian Mountains through vibrant color, depth, and movement. Swirling skies flow across the horizon while rolling mountain ridges fade into the distance above a winding river that reflects the final light of day. Rich golds, fiery oranges, brilliant magentas, and deep purples work together to create a scene that feels both peaceful and alive.
Built from hundreds of individually cut pieces, Golden Hour is far more than a traditional painting. Every component was cut on a scroll saw, shaped and refined by hand, sanded, primed, painted, and assembled one piece at a time. From a distance, it appears to be a colorful landscape painting. Up close, viewers discover the incredible dimensional detail created by its layered construction.
As the first piece in the Golden Hour Collection, this artwork established the bold color palettes, flowing movement, and immersive landscapes that have become a signature of my work.
The result is a statement piece designed to transform a room, spark conversation, and remind us to pause and appreciate the beauty that exists in the everyday moments around us.
