Stag in Spring captures the energy of a woodland landscape returning to life after winter. A majestic whitetail stag stands among towering evergreens, surrounded by a vibrant gradient inspired by the fresh greens and brilliant colors of spring in the Appalachian Mountains.
Measuring approximately 22” x 20.5”, the artwork transitions from brilliant yellow and electric lime through vivid spring green before deepening into rich emerald and teal. Set against a deep black background, the intense greens seem to glow while the negative space emphasizes the intricate details of the stag’s antlers, evergreen branches, and forest floor.
The coordinating hand-painted frame carries the same palette beyond the artwork, blending yellow, lime, and rich green into a bold finish that makes Stag in Spring a statement piece from across the room.
Like all of my handcrafted artwork, this piece is created individually by hand. The intricate stag and woodland silhouette is cut by hand on a scroll saw, carefully hand-sanded and prepared before being individually airbrushed with high-quality acrylic paints. Multiple shades are blended together to create the smooth gradients, highlights, and transitions throughout the finished piece.
Because every piece is individually cut, sanded, painted, and assembled by hand, small variations in gradients, highlights, color placement, and finish are part of the handmade process and make each piece unique.
